Kazakhstan resets site visit for upgrade at 100-MW Shardarinskaya

Hydro operator JSC Shardarinskaya HPP has rescheduled the site visit date for bidders to replace and upgrade equipment at the 100-MW Shardarinskaya hydroelectric project in southern Kazakhstan. Bids are still due December 25.

Shardarinskaya HPP rescheduled a mandatory site visit for October 29, followed by a pre-bid meeting October 30. The site visit had been scheduled October 25, followed by the pre-bid meeting October 26.

Shardarinskaya HPP has received a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for rehabilitation of Shardarinskaya (also called Shardara) on the Syr-Darya River.

The hydro operator seeks replacement of runners and all essential parts for four Kaplan turbines with rated output of 31.5 MW each for total new installed capacity of 126 MW.

Other work includes replacement of governors and 35-megavolt-ampere generators, supply of static excitation systems and cooling water system, refurbishment of drainage and dewatering system, and all civil work for replacement and refurbishment work. The contract also is to include replacement or refurbishment of components of the control, protection, and electrical auxiliaries.
