French town seeks monitoring and operation of Lavalette Dam

The town of Saint-Etienne seeks bids for monitoring and operation of the Lavalette Dam hydroelectric project in France. Site visits are scheduled October 25 and November 13, with bids due November 19.

Saint-Etienne has been rehabilitating Lavalette Dam, its water supply facility built in 1914. Utility Electricite de France also uses the dam to divert water to its Versilhac and Chapelette hydropower plants. SPIE Sud Est and Hydreo mandataire Sud Est received a contract in April to install a new Francis turbine-generator, valve, control panel, and 400-kVa interconnection at the 97-year-old facility.

The town now seeks bids for operation of the dam, including during floods; monitoring and control of proper functioning of the minimum flow turbine-generator; monitoring and verification of dam safety; and inventory and maintenance of monitoring equipment. Saint-Etienne plans an estimated 80,000 euro (US$104,984) one-year contract ending in December 2013. It could be renewed up to three times.

Bid documents may be obtained from Ville de Saint-Etienne, Direction Juridique Assemblee Marches, Hotel de Ville Cedex 1 BP 503, 42007 Saint-Etienne, France; (33) 477487807. Mandatory site visits are scheduled October 25 and November 13.

Bids, in French, are due by noon November 19. For information, contact Ville de Saint-Etienne, Direction Voirie Infrastructure, Geraldine Crozet, 5 rue Auguste Guitton, 42000 Saint-Etienne, France; Tel/Fax: (33) 477487259; E-mail: geraldine.crozet@saint-etienne.fr; Internet: www.saint-etienne.fr.
