El Salvador extends bid date for study of 17-MW Ilopango-Aguacayo

Ingendehsa S.A. de C.V. has extended the deadline for proposals from U.S. firms to perform a feasibility study of the 17-MW Ilopango-Aguacayo hydroelectric project on El Salvador's largest natural lake, Lake Ilopango. Responses now are due October 31.

Ingendehsa previously called for proposals by October 24. The United States Trade and Development Agency (TDA) granted US$742,380 to Ingendehsa to study the project, which is to generate power and control annual flooding near the lake.

Ingendehsa seeks a feasibility study including detailed technical and environmental assessments to support development of the project. The study is to allow the utility to gather key geological, geotechnical, hydrological, and topographical data; record baseline environmental conditions; complete environmental impact assessment requirements; and develop preliminary project designs.

Only U.S. firms may bid for the work. They may use subcontractors from El Salvador for up to 20 percent of the TDA grant amount.

A solicitation notice may be obtained from the U.S. government's Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering solicitation No. 201251026A in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box. A detailed request for proposals may be obtained from TDA via Internet at https://www.ustda.gov/businessopps/rfpform.asp or by faxed request to TDA at (1) 703-875-4009.

Proposals in English and Spanish are due by 4 p.m. October 31 to Director Presidente Jose Hermes Landaverde Garcia, Ingendehsa S.A. de C.V., Av. 1, Pol. E., Casa No. 6, Brisas de San Francisco, Col. Lomas de San Francisco III Etapa, San Salvador, El Salvador; (503) 2273-6243.
