Dominican Republic seeks supervision to rehabilitate four dams

The Dominican Republic's hydraulic resources institute invites expressions of interest to supervise the rehabilitation of storm-damaged infrastructure of four dams. Responses are due November 2.

Instituto Nacional de Recursos Hidraulicos (INDRHI) seeks engineering consulting firms as part of a program of emergency recovery and risk management for natural disasters. INDRHI recruited consultants in 2011 to perform bathymetric surveys and water quality and sedimentation studies of eight hydropower reservoirs.

The current solicitation includes monitoring the implementation of the rehabilitation of infrastructure of the dams, which were severely affected by storms Noel and Olga. Projects include:

  • 113-MW Tavera Dam, slope stabilization and drainage rehabilitation of the dam;
  • 98-MW Jiguey Dam, left bank slope stabilization, monitoring instrumentation, and dam drainage system rehabilitation;
  • Maguaca Dam, various civil works of the dam and mechanical components such as valves and gates;
  • Chacuey Dam, various civil works and mechanical components such as valves and gates, and slope rehabilitation of the dam body.
