U.S. to seek isolated phase bus refurbishment at 786-MW Oahe

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plans to seek bids for refurbishment of the isolated phase bus duct system at 786-MW Oahe Dam on the Missouri River.

The Corps' Omaha District took bids in June for bank stabilization at Oahe, in South Dakota.

The Corps now says a significant amount of moisture has been found in the indoor and outdoor sections of the isolated phase bus duct system at Oahe power plant near Pierre, S.D.

In a solicitation set aside for small businesses, the Omaha District plans to seek refurbishment of the outdoor sections including regasketing of 21 runs of duct. Work also is to include replacement of the rubber bellow boot connection to the transformer, replacement of up to five broken standoff insulators, and testing of the entire bus duct. The contractor also is to determine if water leaks are present and if any components are damaged and to recommend solutions to any deficiencies discovered.

A pre-solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering solicitation No. W9128F12T0167 in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box.
