U.S. seeks stator wedges, HVAC replacement at 2,457.3-MW Chief Joseph

SEATTLE, Wash., U.S. 3/30/12 (PennWell) -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks bids for generator stator wedges and for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system replacement at 2,457.3-MW Chief Joseph Dam near Bridgeport, Wash. Bids in separate solicitations are due April 9 and April 12.

The Corps recently awarded a $2.9 million contract to A.W. Schell Electrical Services Inc. to perform AC and DC system upgrades at Chief Joseph. It also called for bids April 3 for wire rope replacement for the spillway

In a set-aside for small business, the Corps' Seattle District now seeks bids April 9 to replace generator stator wedges, stator slot filler material, ripple springs, and associated packing materials to fulfill critical maintenance requirements. The items require custom manufacturing for Westinghouse generators 1-16 in Powerhouse 1 and General Electric generators 17-27 in Powerhouse 2.

In another set-aside for small business, the Seattle District seeks bids by April 12 to replace and modify the HVAC system at Chief Joseph, including demolition, disposal, redesign, replacement, testing, commissioning, and documentation of HVAC equipment.
