Geotechnical engineers sought for Corps Risk Management Center

WASHINGTON 3/2/12 (PennWell) -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Institute for Water Resources Risk Management Center seeks civil engineers to perform geotechnical work from the agency's Denver, Pittsburgh, and Louisville offices. Applications are due by March 12.

The Risk Management Center leads, manages, and executes the risk engineering aspects of Corps dam safety programs. The Corps took applications in January for supervisory civil engineers to work from the Denver and Pittsburgh offices.

The current positions for Civil Engineer (Geotechnical) are listed as GS-0810-14 with a salary range of $96,690 to $134,899. The position serves as a national specialist on geotechnical engineering for engineering risk management and is a principal adviser on technical issues with respect to geotechnical engineering and dam safety risk management.

Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, GS-13. Requirements include a degree in engineering in relevant fields or a combination of education and experience.
