U.S. to seek bids to replace spillway gate chains at 90-MW Norfork

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plans to seek bids from small businesses to replace spillway tainter gate chains at 90-MW Norfork Dam on the North Fork River in Arkansas. A tender is expected to be issued about Feb. 29.

The Corps' Little Rock District took information in November from small businesses capable of performing the work.

The Corps said it plans to seek bids from small firms to rehabilitate 24 spillway tainter gate hoists that operate 12 gates. The contractor is to design a new wire rope hoist system to replace existing hoist chains. The work is valued at between $1 million and $5 million.

A pre-solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering solicitation No. W9127S12R0004 in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box.
