Macedonia seeks construction of 70-MW Boskov Most

SKOPJE, Macedonia 2/17/12 (PennWell) -- The government of Macedonia invites applications for pre-qualification to build the 70-MW Boskov Most hydroelectric project on the Mala Reka River in western Macedonia. Responses are due March 14.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development agreed in November 2011 to lend 65 million euros (US$88.4 million) to Macedonia for construction of Boskov Most, which is to enable the Balkan nation to reduce electricity imports and cut the country's carbon intensity by 95,000 tons of carbon dioxide annually.

Utility AD Elektrani na Makedonija - Skopje invites applications for pre-qualification for two civil works contracts:
o Civil Works CW1: site infrastructure and access roads; rockfill dam; diversion tunnel; left side diversion system with five intakes, 11-kilometer conveyance system, channels, and siphons; and related hydraulic steel work;
o Civil and Underground Works CW2: Site infrastructure and access roads; intakes; headrace tunnel; surge tank; gate chamber; pressure shaft; powerhouse; tailrace channel; downstream river training; and related hydraulic steel works.

The contracts are to be performed concurrently from mid-2012 through the first quarter of 2016.
