German utility seeks unit modernization at 3.76-MW Wisenta

COTTBUS, Germany 2/16/12 (PennWell) -- Vattenfall Europe Generation AG seeks bids to modernize a turbine and generator and to decommission a pump at the 3.76-MW Wisenta pumped-storage project in Germany. Bids are due March 16.

Vattenfall Europe Generation, the German unit of Sweden-based Vattenfall AB, awarded contracts to Stork Turbo Service GmbH in 2008 for generator repair and maintenance at 10 hydroelectric projects including Wisenta, on the Saale River at Walsburg, Germany.

The utility now seeks bids for modernization of a 1.4-MW Kaplan turbine and generator as well as decommissioning of a pump unit that is directly coupled between the turbine and generator and has not been operated since 1992. The work is to be performed between May 2013 and March 2014.
