Biostatistical firms sought by U.S. Columbia Basin salmon program

WALLA WALLA, Wash., U.S. 2/3/12 (PennWell) -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks information on small businesses that could provide biostatistical services for the Northwestern Region's Anadromous Fish Evaluation Program. Responses are due Feb. 13.

The Corps' Walla Walla District requested proposals for similar work in 2011. The current solicitation seeks information on small businesses capable of performing the work, to assist the Corps in formulating a possible request for proposals.

The Anadromous Fish Evaluation Program (AFEP) conducts scientific investigations to aid recovery of endangered salmon and other species. That is accomplished by improving fish passage conditions in the Columbia and Snake rivers to maximize survival of juvenile salmon and the return of spawning adults.

The program seeks a biostatistician to provide statistical review of research proposals and draft reports for various research projects in the Corps' Walla Walla and Portland districts. The Corps seeks firms with experience in reviewing anadromous fish research and hydropower operations.

A sources sought notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. W912EFRSS08 in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box.

Responses are due by 4 p.m., Pacific time, Feb. 13. For information, contact Connie Cochran, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District, 201 N. 3rd Ave., Walla Walla, WA 99362; (1) 509-527-7216; Fax: (1) 509-527-7802; E-mail: yi.cochran@usace.army.mil.
