Alstom wins contract for Song Bung 4 project in Vietnam

DANANG CITY, Vietnam PennWell (2/7/12) -- Alstom and its consortium partner, Hydrochina Huadong Engineering Corporation, have been awarded a contract worth about US$23.6 million by Vietnam Electricity (EVN) to provide electro-mechanical equipment and technical services for the Song Bung 4 hydropower plant in Vietnam.

Alstom says it will produce two 78-MW Francis turbine-generators and related equipment for the project. Alstom will also be responsible for the equipment's design, engineering, manufacturing, installation, commissioning and testing.

The units will be manufactured at Alstom's new industry manufacturing plant in Tianjin, China, and are expected to be placed into operation in 2014.

EVN last took bids for the project in May 2011. In March 2011, the state-owned utility issued a US$4.6 million contract to Hydraulic Equipment 7 Joint Stock Co. of Vietnam to supply the hydro-mechanical equipment.
