Uganda seeks switchyard upgrade for 255-MW Bujagali

KAMPALA, Uganda 1/18/12 (PennWell) -- Uganda Electricity Transmission Co. Ltd. (UETCL) seeks bids to upgrade a switchyard to 220 kilovolts at the 255-MW Bujagali hydroelectric project on Uganda's Victoria Nile River. Bids are due February 7.

Construction of Bujagali began in 2007 at Jinja, including a 132-kilovolt substation. MWH of the United States was named to provide engineering services during construction.

UETCL now seeks bids for engineering, design, supply, installation, and commissioning of two 250-megavolt-ampere, 220/132/33 kilovolt transformers, related civil works, and ancillary equipment at the Bujagali project switchyard.

Bidding documents may be obtained from the address below for US$100 or the equivalent in a convertible currency. Bids are due by 11 a.m. February 7.
