SACRAMENTO, Calif., U.S. 1/31/12 (PennWell) -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks bids for concrete testing at 198.72-MW Folsom Dam on California's American River. Responses are due Feb. 13.
The Corps' Sacramento District seeks the work under a Joint Federal Project by the Corps; Folsom's operator, the Bureau of Reclamation; California Department of Water Resources; and Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency. The work is being carried out in parallel with rehabilitation of the Folsom power plant.
The Corps solicited information in 2010 on quality assurance contractors who could monitor concrete placement for construction of an auxiliary spillway control structure to address hydrologic risk to Folsom Dam identified by Reclamation's Safety of Dams program.
In a solicitation set aside for small businesses, the Corps currently seeks a contractor for inspection, testing, and analyzing concrete in the field and in laboratories. The contract is to have a base period of one year and two one-year option periods.
A solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. W9123812R0015 in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box.
