India developer seeks environmental monitoring of 444-MW Vishnugad Pipalkoti

RISHIKESH, India 1/13/12 (PennWell) -- THDC India Ltd. invites expressions of interest from consultants to monitor and evaluate implementation of an environmental management plan for the 444-MW Vishnugad Pipalkoti hydroelectric project on India's Alaknanda River. Responses are due January 27.

THDC received a US$648 million loan from the World Bank in 2011 to help achieve financial closure of Vishnugad Pipalkoti.

The developer seeks consultants to oversee the project's environmental management plan, which includes monitoring of water, air, and noise quality; biodiversity; public health and hygiene; muck disposal sites and landslide areas; handling and emergency response for hazardous chemicals; traffic and access management; and submission of reports at regular intervals. The work is to require 48 months.

Solicitation documents may be obtained on the Internet from www.thdc.gov.in and www.tenders.gov.in. Expressions of interest and qualifications are due to the address below by 2 p.m. January 27.
