Bank seeks impact assessments for hydro cascades on six Vietnam rivers

HANOI, Vietnam 11/23/11 (PennWell) -- The World Bank invites expressions of interest from consultants to perform cumulative impact assessments of six rivers to assist in future hydropower cascade development in Vietnam. Responses are due December 8.

The bank recruited consultants in October to help develop a national emergency preparedness plan for dams for Vietnam's Directorate of Water Resources.

The World Bank now seeks cumulative assessments in three phases, the first being a screening for potential significant cumulative impacts. The second phase is to study the most affected rivers in detail. In the third phase, results of the cumulative impacts analysis will be the basis for developing joint operation guidelines and a methodological approach for cumulative impact assessment for future cascade developments in Vietnam.

Expressions of interest and qualifications in English are to be submitted by December 8 via the World Bank Group's eConsultant2 Internet site below. For information, see the eConsultant2 Internet site, https://wbgeconsult2.worldbank.org/wbgec/index.html, Bidding Opportunities, Selection No. 1055129.
