German utility seeks shaft seals for 80-MW Wendefurth

Vattenfall Europe Generation AG seeks bids to design and manufacture shaft seals for the 80-MW Wendefurth pumped-storage project in Germany's Saxony-Anhalt State. Bids are due November 4.

Vattenfall awarded a contract earlier this year to Stelba Hydro to refurbish pump-turbine sets at Wendefurth, on the Bode River. In 2008, it awarded a contract to Stork Turbo Service GmbH of Regensburg, Germany, for generator repair and maintenance at Wendefurth.

The utility now seeks design and supply of two new shaft seals each for units A and B. The new system is to replace carbon rings. The work, valued at 400,000 euros (US$543,539), is to be performed between March 2012 and August 2013.

Solicitation documents may be obtained from the address below. Bids, in German, are due by noon November 4.
