The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission seeks candidates to serve as director of its Division of Dam Safety and Inspections in Washington. Applications are due Oct. 4.
The director serves as FERC's dam safety officer with responsibility to ensure the safety, security, and adequacy of project works and protection of life, property, and public health and safety at hydroelectric projects regulated by the commission. The director develops and maintains policies, procedures, and standards for dam safety and security.
Candidates must have ability to represent the commission on national and regional committees and boards, and to work effectively with licensees, public officials, non-governmental organizations, citizens groups, and other state and federal agencies. They also must have ability to interpret and analyze regulations, laws, and policies as well as the ability to evaluate special engineering and geological investigations, and dam safety and public safety documents.
The position carries an annual salary of between $119,554 and $179,700.
