Vietnam seeks construction monitoring for 260-MW Trung Son

Trung Son Hydropower Co. Ltd. invites expressions of interest from consultants to perform environmental monitoring and pollution assessment during construction of the 260-MW Trung Son hydroelectric project on Vietnam's Ma River. Responses are due September 5.

Trung Son Hydropower Project Management Board pre-qualified firms in April to perform main civil works and installation of hydro-mechanical equipment of Trung Son, which is to feature an 88-meter-tall dam and powerhouse in Thanh Hoa and Son La provinces.

The company now seeks consultants to regularly monitor the environment of the project including wastewater, liquid waste, air environment, and water quality during construction, comparing conditions to baseline conditions and to Vietnam environmental standards. Work is to include proposed mitigation for any problems identified.

Expressions of interest in Vietnamese or English are due by 4 p.m. September 5. For information, contact Trung Son Hydropower Co. Ltd., Hoang Vinh Thang, Manager of Economics and Planning Dept., No. 710B Lac Long Quan St., Nhat Tan Ward, Tay Ho District, Hanoi City, Vietnam; (84) 4-37100596; Fax: (84) 4-37100597; E-mail:
