U.S. seeks exciters, generator rehab for 13.5-MW Upper, Lower Molina

The Bureau of Reclamation seeks bids for excitation system replacements and generator refurbishment at the 8.64-MW Upper Molina and 4.86-MW Lower Molina hydroelectric projects.

Bids are due in separate solicitations on Aug. 18 and 26. A site visit for generator refurbishment was scheduled Aug. 9.

Upper Molina, on Cottonwood Creek, and Lower Molina, on Plateau Creek, were built in 1962. They operate as part of the Colorado River Storage Project.

In one solicitation, Reclamation seeks manufacture and delivery of two excitation systems, one for each project. The static digital excitation systems are to be designed for a 9.6 megavolt-ampere salient-pole synchronous generator at Upper Molina and a 5.4-MVa salient-pole synchronous generator at Lower Molina.

A solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. R11PS40032 in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box. Bids are due Aug. 18.

In a second solicitation, Reclamation seeks design, fabrication, installation, and testing of equipment to refurbish the single generating units at Upper and Lower Molina. The work is expected to cost between $5 million and $10 million.
