Consultants sought for East Africa renewables including small hydro

Global Village Energy Partnership International (GVEP) invites expressions of interest from consultants to assess viability of renewable energy projects in East Africa including small hydropower. Responses are due August 22.

GVEP, a consultant to the World Bank, is a charity devoted to finding market-based solutions to energy poverty in developing countries.

GVEP currently seeks consultants for renewable energy and small and medium enterprise (SME) support in Sub-Sahara Africa. Focused in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and Tanzania, projects of less than 3 MW are to include small hydropower, biomass, wind, and other renewable energy technologies.

A renewable energy specialist is to be retained in Nairobi to analyze projects and advise on their technical viability. A separate consultant is to provide general business support and preparation for grants or investment in SMEs for the program. SMEs are to receive help in preparing business plans, identifying opportunities for growth, and utilizing new funding.
