U.S. seeks study of Colombia renewables including small hydro

The United States Trade and Development Agency (TDA) seeks proposals from consultants to study funding opportunities for renewable energy and energy efficiency, including small hydropower, in Colombia. Responses are due July 25.

TDA took proposals in February from consultants to study opportunities for at least two hydro projects in neighboring Panama and El Salvador. Colombia utility Empresa Energia del Pacifico S.A. (Epsa) also reported advances on four small hydro projects in April.

TDA seeks U.S.-based small businesses to carry out a definitional mission to Colombia for an estimated cost of US$60,000. The consultant is to travel to the South American nation to investigate proposals for a waste-to-energy plant, a smart grid, energy efficiency projects, and other renewables projects including small hydropower. The definitional mission report is to be completed by November 25.

Solicitation documents may be obtained from the U.S. government's Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering solicitation No. RFQCO201151259 in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box. Bidders must register in the U.S. Central Contractor Registration on the Internet at www.ccr.gov.

U.S.-based consultants are to submit technical and business/cost proposals by e-mail by noon, Eastern time, July 25.
