Power Machines to manufacture equipment for Punta Negra hydro project in Argentina

Power Machines OJSC and Argentina's UTE consortium have signed a contract for the supply of equipment for the construction of Argentina's Punta Negra hydropower project, Power Machines announced.

The UTE consortium is the general contractor for the hydro project, which is to be built in San Juan province, reports indicate.

According to the terms and conditions of the contract, Power Machines is to manufacture and supply two 32-MW hydro turbines to Argentinian power engineers, including pre-turbine gate valves and governing equipment as well as two generators completed with excitation systems.

The first stage of equipment shipment, embedded turbine parts, is scheduled for the first quarter of 2012, and the last stage specifying shipment of the rest of the equipment for the first quarter of 2013.

The commissioning of Punta Negra HPP is expected at the end of 2015.
