Pakistan seeks excitation, governors, transformers for 1,000-MW Mangla

Pakistan's Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) seeks bids for excitation equipment, governors, and transformers for 1,000-MW Mangla Dam. Bids in separate solicitations are due August 3, 16, and 23.

WAPDA recently awarded a contract to consulting firms MWH and NESPAK for a feasibility study of upgrading Mangla and likely increasing capacity by about 200 MW. The agency seeks to upgrade generating equipment at Mangla to utilize additional hydraulic capacity from increasing the height of the dam.

Digital excitation system sought

WAPDA currently seeks bids by 11 a.m. August 3 for design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of a digital excitation system replacing the existing system of Mangla Units 9 and 10. Bidding documents for the tender, No. RE/MPS/MR-1364/70, may be obtained from the addresses below until 11 a.m. August 2.

Digital governors sought

WAPDA also seeks bids by 11 a.m. August 16 for design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of digital-type governors replacing existing electro-mechanical governors of Mangla Units 7 and 8. Bidding documents for the tender, No. RE/MPS/MME-1367/71, may be obtained from the addresses below until 11 a.m. August 15.

Switchyard current transformers sought

WAPDA also seeks bids by 11 a.m. August 23 for supply of different types of 132-kilovolt and 220-kV current transformers for Mangla's switchyard. Bidding documents for the tender, No. RE/MPS/EME-1366/72, may be obtained from the addresses below until 11 a.m. August 22.

Bidding documents for each solicitation may be obtained from the addresses below for 1,000 rupees (US$12). Document requests to General Manager (Hydel) should pay for documents by bank draft or pay order to Manager Finance (Hydel), WAPDA, payable at HBL, a/c No. 1303-59, Gardee Square Branch, Lahore. Document requests to Resident Engineer Power Station Mangla should pay for documents by bank draft or pay order to R.E. Power Station Mangla, payable at Habib Bank Mangla Dam Branch, a/c No. SSD 4-7.
