French utility seeks penstock for Lac de Rabouns hydro site

Electricite de France (EDF) seeks bids for construction of a penstock to permit generation from the site of an uncompleted hydropower project on Lac de Rabouns in France's Alpes Maritimes Department. Bids are due August 12.

EDF seeks design, supply, installation, and inner and outer corrosion protection for a penstock at the mountain lake where an access road and tunneling were completed for a hydro project that was interrupted between the two world wars and never completed. Included is civil works at the water intake.

The penstock is to be 5,000 meters long with an internal diameter of 400 millimeters, designed for a head of 1,400 meters. The work is expected to require 36 months.
