Owner's engineer MWH invites applications from engineers to serve as field office engineer during construction of the 40-MW Willow Island hydroelectric project on the Ohio River in Kentucky.
MWH is working with project owner American Municipal Power Inc. to develop six hydroelectric projects at Corps of Engineers navigation dams. MWH last year recruited a field engineer (mechanical) for the 84-MW Cannelton project on the Ohio in Kentucky.
Willow Island includes a reinforced concrete powerhouse with two horizontal bulb-type turbine-generators, intake and tailrace channels, concrete retaining walls, and a five-mile transmission line. The first phase of construction, building a cofferdam, is under way.
In a 48-month assignment, the field office engineer is to report to the resident engineer and be responsible for establishment and implementation of the office procedures as they relate to administration of the construction contract. Duties include implementing project controls for distribution and record keeping of construction drawings, construction contract correspondence, technical records, and other project documents.
Qualifications include a civil engineering degree or demonstrated equivalent experience and more than 10 years of heavy civil construction experience preferably involving large fills and excavations, dewatering systems, cofferdams, concrete construction, and powerhouse equipment installation.
Resumes and inquiries may be sent to Bruce Phillips, MWH, by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
