Czech utility seeks equipment for Vltava River cascade

Czech utility CEZ a.s. seeks bids to supply replacement generator and turbine components to its hydroelectric projects in the Vlatava River cascade. Bids are due July 15 and July 29.

CEZ plans to modernize the more than three dozen hydro projects it operates, most on the Vlatava River. For the current work, CEZ said delivery is to be made to hydro plants in the area of the 120-MW Lipno 1 project, commissioned in 1959, and the 1.5-MW Lipno 2 project, commissioned in 1957, on the Vlatava.

In one of two solicitations, CEZ seeks bids by 10 a.m. July 15 for replacement of generator stator windings, repair of rotors, and other generator components. Work is to begin in August 2012 and be completed in July 2013.

In the second solicitation, CEZ seeks bids by 10 a.m. July 29 for replacement or repair of a pumping unit, upper vane adjustment rings, replacement of lower vane rings, and other turbine components. Work is to begin in August 2012 and be completed in July 2013.
