Bank seeks consultants for Nepal's 37.6-MW Kabeli, 30-MW Nyadi

A unit of the World Bank invites expressions of interest from consultants to serve as lender's independent engineer for two hydroelectric projects being developed in Nepal. Responses are due August 5.

The bank's International Finance Corp. (IFC) seeks consultants to oversee two projects it is considering funding that are being developed by subsidiaries of Butwal Power Co. of Nepal. With funding from the World Bank, Nepal Electricity Authority has said it plans to develop 10,000 MW of hydropower in Nepal over 10 years and 25,000 MW over 20 years.

The two run-of-river hydro projects are 37.6-MW Kabeli, Kabeli Energy Ltd., in Taplejung and Panchthar districts, and 30-MW Nyadi, Nyadi Power Hydro Ltd., in Lamjung District.

Expressions of interest and qualifications, in English with attachments of less than 5 MB, are to be submitted by August 5 via the World Bank Group's eConsultant2 Internet site below. IFC plans to invite a short-list of firms to submit proposals.
