U.S. seeks circuit breakers, pressure valves for 2,078-MW Hoover

The Bureau of Reclamation seeks bids to supply two generator circuit breakers and related equipment at 2,078-MW Hoover Dam on the Colorado River. Bids are due July 15.

Reclamation took bids in May to recondition and restore heat exchangers at Hoover in Arizona and Nevada.

The bureau now seeks bids from firms to design, manufacture, deliver, and install two generator-type SF6 breakers, rated at 25.3-kilovolts and rated to interrupt 128,000 amps fault current. The contract is expected to have a two-year performance period.

A solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering solicitation No. R11PS30063 in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box.

Bids are due July 15. For information, contact Brooke Mena, Contract Specialist, Bureau of Reclamation, LC, Lower Colorado Regional Office, P.O. Box 61470, Boulder City, NV 89006; (1) 702-2938489; E-mail: bmena@usbr.gov.

Reclamation seeks pressure valve refurbishment at Hoover

The Bureau of Reclamation also seeks bids for refurbishment of pressure regulating valves at the Hoover Dam power plant. Bids are due July 15.

Reclamation previously sought information on small businesses capable of performing the work. The current solicitation is unrestricted.

The agency seeks bids for modernization, conversion, and overhaul of nine remaining pressure regulating valves at Hoover. Work has been completed on five units and Hoover has purchased hydraulic manifolds and digital controllers to be used on the remaining units.

The contract calls for disassembly and removal of pressure regulating valves and transport of the units to and from the facility to be modernized and refurbished, and assembly and reinstallation of equipment at Hoover. The work requires replacement of bushings with vesconite greaseless material, seats, seal rings, and gaskets; machining; repair of cavitation damage; replacement steel parts; and reassembly, adjustment, and testing.

The work is expected to cost between $1 million and $5 million.
