Ramky wins civil works contract for India small hydro plants

Ramky Infrastructure Ltd has secured a contract for civil works at the Mander I and Mander II small hydropower projects in Chhattisgarh, India.

The US$52 million contract, awarded by Chhattisgarh Energy Consortium Pvt Ltd, involves the construction of a concrete weir, spillway and appurtenant works and other infrastructural and hydromechanical works, according to media reports.

The project is to be completed within 27 months, reports indicate.

In other India hydropower news, the 1,000-MW Karcham Wangtoo hydropower project in Himachal Pradesh is expected to be completed three months ahead of schedule, wire services reported.

The Jaypee Group hydro project, located on the Satluj River, is likely to be fully operational in August this year, reports indicate. One turbine at the project has already begun power generation.
