Karcham Wangtoo hydro project in India ahead of schedule

The 1,000-MW Karcham Wangtoo hydropower project in Himachal Pradesh, India, is expected to be completed three months ahead of schedule, wire services reported.

The Jaypee Group hydro project, located on the Satluj River, is likely to be fully operational in August this year, reports indicate. One turbine at the project has already begun power generation.

Four 250-MW turbines have been supplied by a consortium of Andritz Hydro and Voith Siemens.
