German utility EnBW Kraftwerke AG seeks bids for construction of the two-plant 270-MW Forbach pumped-storage project at Schwarzenbach Dam in Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany. Bids are due June 30.
For several years, EnBW has been conducting a program to expand and modernize existing hydro plants and to add small hydro plants to existing weirs.
The utility now seeks to expand the century-old 70-MW Rudolf Fettweis hydroelectric project by adding an upper reservoir of 1.8 million cubic meters above the existing Schwarzenbach reservoir of 14 million cubic meters, an underground lower reservoir below it, and two pumped-storage plants totaling 270 MW.
EnBW said it plans to establish a framework agreement with up to four firms to design and carry out the Forbach project in four lots comprising: construction of the upper reservoir; special structural, civil, and geological engineering of the lower reservoir storage cavern; power plant design and construction; and mechanical, electrical, and control systems and hydraulic engineering.
Tender documents may be obtained from the address below. Bids, in German, are due June 30.
