EuroSibEnergo, Yangtze Power to develop hydro projects in Siberia

Russia utility EuroSibEnergo has signed an investment framework agreement with China Yangtze Power Co. for a series of power projects, including a pair of hydropower projects, in Eastern Siberia, wire services reported.

The companies are currently conducting a feasibility study, Bloomberg reported.

China Yangtze Power and EuroSibEnergo have agreed to construct three power generation facilities in eastern Siberia, with a total capacity of 3,000 MW, wire reports indicate.

Two of the facilities will be hydroelectric power stations, while a third will be a natural gas-fired plant.

In other news, Russian hydropower producer RusHydro recently announced plans to construct as many as 15 small hydropower projects in the republic of Northern Ossetia, wire services reported.

The small hydro plants are to be built at the Fiagdon and Uruh rivers, as well as the Ardon river confluent rivers - the Sadonka, the Arkhondon, the Tsmikomdon and others.
