The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has scheduled an Industry Day workshop about its Nashville District Hydropower Rehabilitation Program, to be held in conjunction with the HydroVision International Conference and Exhibition in Sacramento.
The Corps invites contractors and suppliers to the workshop 8 a.m.-noon July 19, one of several pre-conference activities of HydroVision, which runs July 19-22 at the Sacramento Convention Center.
The Corps' Nashville District conducted a similar Industry Day in 2010 at HydroVision in Charlotte, N.C. Again, the workshop is to focus on the Corps' Cumberland River Basin hydro system. A 2008 assessment of equipment at nine Corps hydropower plants on the Cumberland in Tennessee and Kentucky found a need for up to $470 million in repairs.
The workshop is to present information about the Nashville District rehab program, consisting of hydropower plant rehabilitation and modernization work items. Tasks may include, but are not limited to, maintenance and repair of existing hydropower facilities.
The agenda includes: 8 a.m. registration and networking; 9 a.m. discussion of Cumberland River Basin hydropower rehabilitation program; 10 a.m. discussion of turbine-generator rehabilitation at the 135-MW Center Hill project; 11 a.m.-noon questions. The event will be held at Sacramento Convention Center, Room 204, 1400 J St., Sacramento, CA 95814.
HydroVision registration information is on the Internet at www.hydroevent.com/index.html, with hotel information at www.hydroevent.com/index/housing.html.
