Swiss seek voltage regulation systems for 390-MW Nendaz

Grande Dixence SA, which operates Switzerland's 2,099-MW Cleuson-Dixence hydroelectric complex, seeks bids to replace six voltage regulation systems at the 390-MW Nendaz hydroelectric project, part of the Cleuson-Dixence complex. Bids are due May 30.

Nendaz is one of four power plants in the hydro complex on the Rhone River. Others are 1,269-MW Bieudron, 290-MW Fionnay, and 150-MW Chandoline.

Grande Dixence SA, which owns the project with EOS Holding, seeks bids to supply six voltage regulation systems for turbine-generator groups G1 through G6. The work is to be performed between January 2012 and June 2016.

Bidding documents may be obtained from the address below. Bids, in French, are due by noon May 30.

Alstom, Andritz to refurbish Nendaz generators

On behalf of Grande Dixence SA, Hydro Exploitation SA awarded contracts to Alstom Hydro (Suisse) SA and Andritz Hydro Ltd. to rehabilitate generator groups of the Nendaz project.

The Switzerland unit of Alstom Hydro received an award April 6 valued at 12.26 million francs (US$13.9 million) for generator contract No. 1. Andritz's Swiss unit received an award the same day valued at 9 million francs (US$10 million) for contract No. 2.

A consortium of Andritz VA Tech Hydro GmbH and MCE Industrietechnik Linz GmbH & Co. received a 127 million euro (US$162 million) contract in 2006 to rehabilitate a giant pressure shaft that ruptured in 2000, shutting down Cleuson-Dixence. (HRW March 2007)
