Sierra Leone signs contract for completion of Bumbuna hydro project

Sierra Leone has signed a $750 million agreement with Joule Africa to complete the Bumbuna hydropower project, wire services reported.

The Bumbuna hydroelectric project, located in the north of the country, was started in 1975, reports indicate.

The first phase of the project was completed in 2009, supplying 50 MW of electricity, news agencies reported.

The 400-MW hydro project is scheduled for completion in five years.
