Rainpower to upgrade Ratan hydro project in Sweden

Rainpower Kristinehamn AB has been commissioned by E.ON to replace the governor system in the Ratan hydropower station in Sweden, Rainpower reported.

The US$825,000 contract involves the delivery of complete hydraulic governor systems and new electronic regulators.

The Ratan station was built in 1968 on the Ljungan River in the Berg district of Jamtland. The hydropower station has two generators with a capacity of 60 MW.

In 2010, Rainpower ASA signed a contract with Swiss hydropower generator Officine Idroelettriche della Maggia SA for the delivery of equipment to the Robiei pumped-storage hydro plant.

The scope of supply included both pump turbines and a Francis turbine with auxiliary equipment.
