Guide bearing re-babbitting sought for 1,312-MW Glen Canyon

The Bureau of Reclamation seeks bids to re-babbitt guide bearings at the 1,312-MW Glen Canyon Dam power plant on the Colorado River near Page. Bids are due May 31.

Glen Canyon has been undergoing major renovation, including replacement of eight turbines.

Under a total small business set-aside, Reclamation's Glen Canyon Field Division seeks small businesses to provide equipment and components to re-babbitt 12 upper and 18 lower guide bearing segments. The contractor is to remove all old babbitt metal from each shoe segment, clean bonding surfaces adequately for tinning, tin the interface surface, and centrifugally cast new babbitt metal. The work is expected to require 75 days.
