Bosnia seeks additional spillway for 110-MW Bocac

The electric utility of Bosnia's Serb Republic, Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske a.d. Trebinje, seeks bids to construct an additional spillway for control of flood discharges from the 110-MW Bocac hydroelectric project in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Bids are due May 27.

The European Investment Bank approved a 103 million euro (US$150 million) loan to Bosnia and Herzegovina for rehabilitation of hydroelectric plants and electricity distribution systems.

Elektroprivreda RS and two other regional utilities in Bosnia recruited consultants in 2007 to assist in dam safety and rehabilitation work at several hydroelectric projects including the additional spillway at Bocac. The utility also took bids in 2009 for supply of electrical equipment for refurbishment of Bocac.

Elektroprivreda RS seeks bids for excavation and concrete works for an open air lateral spillway and tunnel sections as well as establishment of a technical monitoring system for the facilities. The work is to require 18 months.
