Judge rules in favor of Burnett Water in fish lift case

A Queensland environmental group has lost a Federal Court battle over a fish lift at Paradise Dam on the Burnett River in south-east Queensland, media reports indicate.

The Wide Bay Burnett Conservation Council lodged action against Burnett Water in 2008, claiming it had breached the approval conditions and that the device wasn't suitable for fish to navigate the dam wall.

Burnett Water denied the claims. The Federal Court this month ruled in favor of the company.
