In-place machining sought by U.S. for 2,078-MW Hoover

The Bureau of Reclamation seeks information on firms capable of supplying turbine pit in-place machining and line boring in-place machining at 2,078-MW Hoover Dam on the Colorado River in Arizona and Nevada. Responses to two information requests are due March 22 and 23.

The agency now has issued two sources sought notices seeking information from firms capable of performing machining repair or replacement during turbine-generator maintenance overhaul, including machine repair of fatigued, worn, or water-damaged hydro turbine-generator parts to precision dimensions and tolerances per Hoover Dam design. Reclamation will use capability statements received to determine an appropriate procurement strategy.

The first sources sought notice, Solicitation No. R1130001SSA, seeks in-place machining of the stay ring flange, spiral case o-ring surface, curb plate surface and inside diameter, crown plate surface and inside diameter, lower seal ring inside diameter and upper seal ring inside diameter. Capability statements are due to the address below by March 22.

The second sources sought notice, Solicitation No. R1130001SSB, seeks line boring of 24 sets of three wicket gate bushing parent metal bores and wicket gate boss bores in the facing plates. Capability statements are due to the address below by March 23.

The sources sought notices may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site,, by entering the solicitation numbers above in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box. Responses are due by hard copy or by e-mail of no more than 10 pages to the address below.
