Vibration monitoring equipment sought by Ireland utility

ESB Energy International seeks firms to supply permanent vibration monitoring equipment for hydroelectric plants. Responses are due January 24.

ESB Energy International combines the Irish and international power generation business of Ireland utility ESB with its consultancy, asset management, and investment wings. Among ESB's major hydro projects are 65-MW Erne and the 292-MW Turlough Hill pumped-storage plant.

ESB Energy International plans to execute a two-year framework agreement with a firm to supply about 20 permanent vibration monitoring systems for hydro projects. The systems are to provide effective protection for hydro turbines, allow data acquisition and vibration diagnostics, and have remote access interrogation capability.
