New equipment rehab bid date for Italy's 13.4-MW Uvini, 25.7-MW Santu Miali

The water authority of the Italian island of Sardinia has extended the deadline for bids to refurbish turbine-generators and other equipment of the 13.4-MW Uvini and 25.7-MW Santu Miali hydroelectric projects. Bids now are due March 8.

Ente Acque della Sardegna previously called for bids by January 17. It seeks improvements to electro-mechanical equipment of Uvini, in Siurgus Donigala, and Santu Miali, in Furti, to bring the plants up to the latest technical and regulatory standards.

Work on Uvini includes replacement of a 13.1-MW Kaplan turbine and generator and a 262-kW Francis turbine as well as replacement of auxiliary systems and gates and refurbishment of other components. Work on Santu Miali includes refurbishment of a 25.7-MW Francis turbine and generator and replacement of auxiliary systems and a vertical section of penstock.

The work, valued at 21.7 million euros (US$28.6 million), is to require 720 days.
