Epsa unveils Amaime small hydropower plant

Colombian hydropower generator Epsa has officially unveiled its 20-MW Amaime run-of-river small hydro plant in Valle del Cauca department.

The firm has invested 90 billion pesos (US$47.5 million) in the project, Epsa announced.

Amaime is part of the firm's hydropower portfolio, which includes the 120-MW Miel and 40-MW Alto and Bajo Tulua projects.

Epsa recently secured two loans totaling 169 billion pesos (US$87.8 million) to finance construction of its 55-MW Cucuana hydropower plant in Colombia.

The loans come from local financial institution Banco de Occidente.
