Czech firm to finance Sarband hydropower plant rehab in Tajikistan

Czech Republic-based company Technoexport will finance the project for rehabilitation of the 240-MW Sarband hydro plant located in southern Tajikistan, news agencies and government sources reported.

The estimated budget for the rehab of the Sarband hydroelectric power plant is USD 65 million, wire reports indicate.

The rehabilitation and modernization project is expected to be completed in 2012, reports indicate.

In other news, the European Investment Bank (EIB) recently announced it is lending EUR 20 million (USD 25.9 million) to Georgia to finance the completion of rehabilitation of Enguri hydropower plant and Vardnili hydropower cascade.
