Cameroon awards construction management contract for Lom Pangar hydro project

Cameroon has awarded a USD 16.2 million contract to France's Coyne et Bellier to manage construction of the 56-MW Lom Pangar hydroelectric project in the Sanaga River Basin.

The Lom Pangar project includes the 46-meter-tall Lom Pangar Dam and a reservoir of 540 square kilometers and storage of 6 billion cubic meters of water. In addition to generating its own electricity, Lom Pangar is expected to control flows to increase generation of downstream hydropower projects.

Under the recently-awarded contract with Cameroon utility Electricity Development Corp., the contract awardee is to perform site studies, study supply and installation of hydroelectric equipment and oversee project construction.
