Afghanistan extends bidding to refurbish 2.4-MW Gereshk hydro

Afghanistan's electricity authority has extended the deadline for bids to rehabilitate the 2.4-MW Gereshk hydroelectric project in Afghanistan's Helmand Province. Bids now are due January 20.

Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (Afghanistan Electricity Authority) (DABS) previously called for bids by December 30.

The government of Afghanistan has applied for a grant from the Asian Development Bank to refurbish the hydro project. ADB endorsed advanced procurement for the project in June 2010. The bank announced a strategic partnership with Afghanistan in 2009 that is to include investment in energy, transport, and irrigation sectors, including hydropower.

DABS now invites bids for construction and completion of rehabilitation of Gereshk under Tranche 3 of the ADB-funded energy sector investment program for Afghanistan.

Bidding documents in English may be obtained from the address below by written application referencing "Bidding documents for MFF 0026-AFG: Energy Sector Development Investment Program (ICB/DABS/Gereshk HPP 012/2010): Rehabilitation of Gereshk Hydropower Plant," plus a fee of 5,000 afghanis or US$100 in favor of DABS Bank Account - DABS Project Management Office (PMO) and Bank Account No. 60436657 at Kabul Bank, Kabul.
