PJM appoints Buehler new chief communications officer

PJM Interconnection has appointed Susan Buehler as chief communications officer with responsibility for media relations, employee communications, creative services and PJM's online presence.

"Susan's career in strategic communications and broadcast journalism brings a new perspective to reaching our stakeholders," said Nora Swimm, senior vice president – Corporate Client Services. "Her experience helping large firms achieve their communications goals coupled with her keen awareness of what resonates with audiences will enhance PJM's approach to communicating."

Buehler, a native of Bucks County, Pennsylvania., recently served as executive vice president for Bellevue Communications, a public relations firm based in Philadelphia. During her tenure, she developed media, public relations and government relations strategies for large corporate clients including Citizens Bank, Campbell Soup, McDonald's and Philadelphia Works.

Prior to managing the day-to-day operations of Bellevue Communications, she was an Emmy award-winning television news reporter and editor at Fox News and previously worked in communications at PECO Energy.

She currently serves on the executive committee of the board of trustees for the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and the board of governors for the Philly Ad Club. She is past president of the board of the mid-Atlantic chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and is active in the Philadelphia Public Relations Association and the Public Relations Society of America. Buehler also sits on the board of directors of College Possible Philadelphia.

She holds a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism from Syracuse University.

PJM Interconnection, founded in 1927, ensures the reliability of the high-voltage electric power system serving 61 million people in all or parts of Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia. PJM coordinates and directs the operation of the region's transmission grid, which includes over 81,000 miles of transmission lines; administers a competitive wholesale electricity market; and plans regional transmission expansion improvements to maintain grid reliability and relieve congestion.
