Siemens launches power grid services platform for U.S. market

Siemens has introduced a new Digital Grid Services platform for the U.S. market that will allow utilities to better access an increasingly digital operational environment through the use of cloud and managed service offerings.

The offering will consist of software as a service grid management applications offered via a subscription service, managed services including engineering and operations expertise, and cloud-hosted environments via Siemens secure data centers.

The solution provides Siemens’ customers with more flexibility for their smart grid deployments relieves them from the burden of investing in and operating complex software, hardware and networking infrastructure

“We recognize that every customer’s business priorities and digitalization journey are different, so our aim in introducing our new Digital Grid Services platform is to provide our customers with as much flexibility and agility to make their grid systems more intelligent, reliable, and efficient,” said Mike Carlson, president of Siemens Digital Grid. “By combining software as a service and cloud-hosted environments with our expertise in engineering and operations, we will help our utility and industrial customers continue to thrive in today’s ever-changing energy landscape while keeping an eye on the bottom line.”

The Digital Grid Services offering will enhance much of Siemens existing grid portfolio including microgrid software, outage management systems, smart meter systems, and data management including grid and asset analytics, among many others.
