PJM works on interconnect for 60 MW Beetle Solar project in Virginia

Beetle Solar has proposed a solar power facility located near Boykins in Southampton County, Virginia, said PJM Interconnection in a November 2016 study on the project.

The installed facilities will have a total capability of 60 MW with 40.2 MW of this output being recognized by PJM as capacity. The proposed in-service date for this project was June 1, 2016.

This study does not imply a Virginia Electric and Power commitment to this in-service date. The project, under queue #AB1-054, will interconnect with the VEPCO transmission system with a connection into the Boykins 115-kV substation.

This System Impact Study was prepared in accordance with the PJM Open Access Transmission Tariff, Section 205, as well as the System Impact Study Agreement between Beetle Solar and PJM Interconnection.

The intent of a System Impact Study is to determine a plan, with approximate cost and construction time estimates, to connect the subject generation interconnection project to the PJM network at a location specified by the project developer. It is a mid-point in the queue process. The study doesn't offer any background on Beetle Solar.
